Documentation is from Paul Widkenden of Thanet's "A Dictionary of Period Russian Names", online (2nd) ed.: http://www.sca.org/heraldry/paul/ Aleksandr: given name; "Aleksandr Pleschei" c. 1370; Tup p.306 Ruslanovich: patronymic derived fr. given name "Ruslan" + suffix "ov" + suffix "-ich". "Ruslan" is dated to the 15th c. in Veselovskii, "Onomastikon", p. 273 (source provided by Paul Wikenden of Thanet, to be included in an upcoming 3rd edition of the Dictionary) Yevsha: variation of "Evsha" (end of 13th c.), a variant of "Iov"; Art VII 76; #482 (see attached email fr. of Icomb (m) - new name & device Herald of Record: Dorren of Ashwell Sable, a corbie passant wings addorsed argent. Name "Arden" comes from the Domesday Book [edition I use is Hinde, Thomas, edit. The Domesday Book: England's Heritage Then and Now. Crown Publishers, Inc: NY, 1985] Arden is a threefold name -- it is a section of NW Warwickshire, it is the adoped name of the Turchill family that settled in the region under William, and a personal name. Icomb [sp. also Icumb, Iccumb] is a tiny village (still extant) in Gloucestershire near the Welsh border. It is also mentioned in the rolls of Domesday, along with its manor-house "Icomb Place". |

the Bemused (f) - new name & device Herald of Record: Migel Gneuyle de Normandie, Sinking Tower Pursuivant Sable, a human ribcage argent. According to the submission form: "Otgon" means 'young' in Mongolian. "Otgon Tenger" is the name of the shamanic holy mountain in the Altai range in western Mongolia. There is a current Olympic archer (female) whose last name is Otgon. It is close to the mongol word for female shaman (utgan). |

Tammarion is submitted as a diminuitive of Tammara, a Hebrew name, used several times in the Old Testament. De Sidana -- a locative. Sidana is given as a city in Southern France, in the vicinity of Montpellier. |

Uileag - Documentation provided by Tangwystl verch Morgant, Harpy Herald. Although the Harpy Herald shows the name spelled with a double "l", the submitter prefers the above spelling and relies upon the fact that variations in spelling of a name were not uncommon in the middle ages.
